As you start to become a more seasoned traveler there are items you pack in your suitcase that are vital and some you come to realize just aren’t necessary and can be tossed out. This past year we have been able to weed out quite a few items that just aren’t needed, but we have found one that has become an essential that every traveler, backpacker, camper or really any household should have.

You might hear the words all-inclusive and think that it would be a dream come true, no matter where or what the resort is right? But not all resorts are created equal, and you really have to do some digging to find the resort that is a perfect fit for you and your family. I have heard many accounts from friends that just went for the cheapest option they could find, and they turned out to be very disappointed. The meals, the service, or the location were all wrong, and instead of the all-inclusive resort being a positive part of the trip, it turned out to be a regret.

Our family is always on the lookout for family friendly destinations that might not be as well-known. This year we discovered Singapore! This amazing island city-state has so much to offer families and more theme parks and fun activities than you can count. I have always been fascinated with Singapore and it’s been on my travel list for a while. We had been staying in Malaysia for a few months and I knew we couldn’t head back home without visiting this amazing place.

Do you ever look for alternative accommodations when traveling? Something other than your typical hotel stay? As a family of four we are always looking for something that has more of a home feel. Somewhere I can cook a meal or two and we have more space to roam around. When we recently looked at heading to Bali I was excited to see that Villas are a big deal there and something that visitors use all the time as an alternative to hotels. Ever since my first time in Japan I have been obsessed with anything Japanese inspired. I love the simplicity and efficiency of Japanese design and when I am in a space created with this in mind I always feel at peace. During my travels I am always on the lookout for Japanese inspired properties and I was incredibly excited to find the Watermark hotel on our recent journey to Bali.
