Make It Yourself Monday: Homemade Dishwasher Tabs!

Easy

It's "Make it yourself Monday", and I am super excited about it!!

Have you ever found yourself starring at the dishwasher detergents at the store wondering witch one won't leave a film on your dishes and cost an arm and leg?

I have been there with you and so I have now decided to make my own dishwasher tabs!

I love Finish dishwasher tabs, but I don't always have a coupon and the dishwasher I have right now is really picky and they don't work. Frown

The great thing about this recipe is you can make a ton of tabs and it's cheap and easy!!

Here is what you will need:

1 Cup Washing Soda
1 Cup Borax -Note: Make sure to not touch your eyes when working with borax.
1/4 Cup Epsom Salt
Lemon Juice

*Most of these ingredients I had on hand from making my own laundry detergent.

This will make a lot!! You can cut the recipe in half if needed.

Directions:

:: Mix all of your dry ingredients together

:: Slowly add your lemon juice a tablespoon at a time - I did around 8 tablespoons.

:: You don't want it to be too wet or too dry.

:: Once you have the right consistency you can start to fill your ice cube trays

:: Let them dry until they are hard and fairly easy to remove

I unfortunately haven't used ice cube trays in years since my fridge makes ice cubes, so I used my molds that I got at IKEA. (they worked fine as well)

This is just part of the batch that I made, in the end I had around 60 tabs!! How awesome is that?!!
