There is a huge difference in planning a friends Vegas getaway in your 20’s, and doing the same in your 30’s. My sister in-law learned this the hard way when she (in her mid-30’s) went on a weekend trip with a bunch of her 20 year old friends. By the end of the weekend she just wanted to crawl in a hole. Now don’t get me wrong, us 30 year olds can still party; but we need some downtime too, and if you can throw in some relaxation, it makes for a perfect getaway.

We had many amazing activities planned on our recent trip to Long Beach, but none were quite as unique and special as our Gondola ride through the waterways of Naples, Long Beach. Our 14th wedding anniversary  coincided with our trip, and we knew we wanted it to be a spectacular anniversary. We weren’t sure what to expect, and even though my husband has been to Venice, neither of us had been on a Gondola before.

Airbnb has now risen to become one of the most used sites when looking for an alternative to traditional vacation accommodations, but it’s far from a perfect system. It can do more than just let you down if you don’t do some research first and take the steps necessary to make it work for you. As a family of four who have used Airbnb a plethora of times over the last two years we have seen our share of the good, the bad and the very ugly. Here is what I have learned and how I make sure we don’t regret our Airbnb choice and run for the nearest hotel.

Planning a vacation for just your immediate family can be overwhelming, let alone throwing in grandparents and other extended family members. We have done many multigenerational trips due to the benefits for our whole family. Grandparents get to have new experiences with their grandkids, and grandchildren get memories that they will always remember. We have many fantastic multigenerational trips, but there are some drawbacks that, if not prepared for, can put a huge damper on the whole trip.
