There are so many beautiful places and states to visit while in New England, but there are a few you really don’t want to miss for example: Portland, Maine. A beautiful city right on the water, bustling with locals and travelers. Part city, part seaside town. A great mixture of everything you would want on a trip to New England.
We planned our trip during Maines premiere food and wine festival; Harvest on the Harbor. I have been to other food festivals, but nothing like this. Harvest on the Harbor goes all out to bring you the freshest food and top notch drinks. Only the very best from local businesses in Maine.
The finest wines and beers paired with some amazing dishes, in an amazing city. I would highly recommend visiting in October and checking out the Harvest on the Harbor.
I would also recommend visiting Peaks Island while in Portland. It’s this great little island right across the water. On our visit we stayed on the island at The Inn on Peaks Island. It’s a beautiful little Inn with small town charm bursting at the seams. The Inn is just a short walk from the dock so you don’t even need a vehicle to experience it. A lot of couples get married on the island and I can’t imagine a better place for the first honeymoon night. Our room had a view and even a deck to enjoy the cool crisp air. I was very impressed with the size of the rooms and the bright colors making the rooms light and airy.
Portland Maine is truly enchanting and I can attest to the fact that it’s almost impossible to leave to go back home. With it being the largest city in Maine it is full of culture, amazing food, and the most beautiful site in New England. Definitely worth a visit or several.
