My Joyful Birth Story With Alta View Hospital

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Intermountain Healthcare. As always though, all opinions are mine.

When you are a first-time mom, everything is new, overwhelming and sometimes scary. You have so many things running through your mind, and there isn’t a book in the world that can completely prepare you. When I was pregnant with my first baby, I was terrified—but not terrified about pregnancy or caring for a fragile little human being—I was terrified about delivery. There were so many unknowns, toward the end of my pregnancy I couldn’t stop thinking about what could go wrong and wondering, “Can I really do this?”

That’s the moment you really need a strong support system. I’m not talking about just family and friends—you need a doctor and hospital you can trust. I found that with Alta View Hospital. The hospital staff at Alta View put all my worries to rest. I felt reassured I had some of the best medical professionals ready to help me bring my little girl into the world safely.

On the day my daughter was born, my water broke early in the morning. What I didn’t know till I got to the hospital, is that it had only partially broken. When I arrived at Alta View Hospital and they told me my water wasn’t completely broken, and I was so worried I would have to go all the way back home and wait. I think the nurses could see the stress and worry on my face, and they kept assuring me that everything would be fine and I would probably be staying and not heading back home. They were so sweet with me that I knew my baby and I were in good hands.

They got me into a comfortable room, and a few hours later I was having heavy contractions so I asked for an epidural. To this day, I will never forget the anesthesiologist. I was so nervous about that huge needle (who wouldn’t be, right?!) and as soon as he came into the room he started telling me jokes and playing around. I almost didn’t even notice the needle going in due to him distracting me so well, and a little while later I had my little girl. All my fears were for nothing. I couldn’t believe how seamlessly it all went.

Shortly after I gave birth I, was told that I tested positive for group B strep, which meant that we would both have to stay three extra days at the hospital. In that time, I got to know all the hospital staff really well and they made those three days a breeze.

I was so in love with this little person I had just brought into the world. The nurses were so attentive that they knew I wanted to spend as much time as possible with my baby. They always made sure to bring her right back after any tests or anything else that they had to take her out of my room for. They went above and beyond checking on me to make sure I had everything I needed. Anytime my husband wasn’t there, they would make sure I had plenty to drink and eat and were always there to help me hobble to the restroom. I don’t think I pushed the call button the whole time I was there, that’s how attentive they were. For all the worry and anxiety I had months earlier, it couldn’t have been an easier and more wonderful experience. By the time I left the hospital I was overjoyed to take my baby home and so grateful to the staff at Alta View for their amazing service.

I have recommended Alta View Hospital to all of my family and friends regardless of whether or not they are having a baby because I know they will be well taken care of. You can trust the care and attention you will receive at Alta View Hospital.
