Three Tips to Stay Stress Free This School Year!

Today I wanted to share with you some my favorite tips for a stress free back to school. By now every school-aged child is back in school, but that doesn’t mean all the stress is gone. It can still be difficult to get into the “swing of things”. Our family isn’t a typical family—we homeschool our kids, so things look a little different around our home. I believe though that there are some things that moms can do to make the most of the new school year whether your kids hop on a bus to get to school or just sit down at the kitchen table. Here are my tips to help keep things stress free:

Capture all the moments – So much can change in a year, don’t wait to take those photos! Trust me; you won’t regret being the crazy camera mom later down the road. And you won’t be stressing out that you didn’t document those great memories.

As I drive past our local elementary school I see so many moms using their smartphones to try and capture those first school memories. I then see those same photos later on Facebook as moms display them proudly. Unfortunately smartphones don’t do those moments justice. Most smartphone pictures I see would definitely get a D- grade in my book.  That’s why I use my Panasonic LUMIX G7 to get some great shots of my kiddos. Even though we homeschool we still did back to school photos to commemorate the first day of school. With a touch-enabled monitor you can change the focus of your shots, scroll through photos, or change settings instantly. With the Panasonic LUMIX G7 4K Ultra HD Video, you get 30 frames-per-second, and can grab an 8-megapixel still image from that video. This gives you the confidence that your photos will turn out great.

Still Have Fun – Just because the school bell rings doesn’t mean you can’t hold onto that summer fun. The weather will still be warm for a little bit longer, be sure to still plan some relaxing family fun.

We went to a lantern festival a couple of weeks ago and my kiddos are still talking about. It was possibly more fun than anything we had done all summer and it will be something my kids will always remember. 

It was also another fantastic time for my Panasonic LUMIX G7 to shine! The Panasonic LUMIX G7 is super lightweight and portable to take on any family activity. I took it with me to the lantern festival and it was so easy to tote around. The body is really compact for how much it brings to the table and it’s really comfortable and easy to hold.

The Panasonic LUMIX G7 is mirrorless so it doesn’t have the bulk of traditional DSLR’s. The LUMIX G7 4K Ultra HD video really came in handy when it came time to light the lanterns and send them flying. Normally it would not be very easy to take pictures while holding something that is on fire! Instead of trying to hold the camera and click, I was able to take short 4k videos that capture 30 still frames for every second of video. After getting back home I could handpick the frames for the perfect photos.

Loved how easy it was to capture our marshmallow roasting fun. In the past it's been hard for me to get my DSLR to take good pics of flames, but this one turned out great.

The pictures below were from the fire festival after the lanterns were done. It was not easy to capture fire dancers that are constantly moving, but I am very happy with these!

Keep Calm – No matter where your kids go to school, kids will just have bad days. It’s ok, just try to keep calm. As a homeschool mom, not all days go to plan some days seem doomed from the beginning. That’s why on those days I breathe. Inhale, exhale, and repeat. And sometimes we just need a change of scenery. It’s amazing what a park will do for everyone.

I absolutely love how clear and crisp photos turn out. Normally when I try to capture a hummingbird they come out all blurry, but the 4k video made this one turn out great!
