I can’t believe it’s coming this weekend!! Are you ready for Mockingjay – Part 2 ?! I can barely contain my excitement and I already have my tickets! Do you? In less than a couple of days we will be able to see how it all ends. This Friday, November 20th you can join in all the excitement by grabbing your own tickets! I was so excited I decided to throw a Hunger Games party and watch Mockingjay Part One.
When I first was thinking about the theme of my party, I was a little overwhelmed at all the possibilities out there. Should I do a girl of fire party? I could have flames as my theme and everything would be red and orange? Every movie has a different theme, and it was hard to think of something shown universally through them all. Since I wanted a theme for my party that carried through all the movies, I chose The Capitol. After all, what’s more extravagant and fitting for a party than the glamour of The Capitol?

So I did everything with a little couture, a little glamour and definitely over the top.
Here was the menu for the evening:

And to balance out all the sugar I added a veggie tray and some chips and salsa. Didn’t need a bunch of ladies hopped up in sugar. Lol
I had a really fun time putting together this party, when you do over the top there really aren’t limits. I headed to the Dollar store and Walmart for most of the decorations. If you want to throw a party like this, now is the time! With all the holiday decorations out now is a perfect time to grab over the top colorful decorations.
Walmart had all of the sparkly colorful decorations I put on the tabletop, these really completed the theme. I could just picture Effie sticking these in her hair! Lol The tabletop signs are all free printables you can find at the bottom of this post.
I couldn’t find a gold tablecloth so I opted for gold wrapping paper that I put across the table, I think this actually turned out nicer than any normal table cloth would have. (Plus, bonus! I can still use it as wrapping paper later on!)
The frames I used for the movie quotes have come in handy at so many parties! These are the same that I used for my son’s Minecraft party. I found these for a $1.50 at IKEA and would highly recommend you snag some!
Once my guests arrived they were thrilled to be a part of the extravagant Capitol, and partake in all the yummy treats. Afterward, we settled in to watch Mockingjay Part One. You can’t go to a multipart movie without reorienting yourself with the previous part. Now we are all caught up and ready to head out on Friday to see Mockingjay – Part 2!
Here is a little bit about what Part 2 will have: Teamed with a group of her closest friends, including Gale [Liam Hemsworth], Finnick [Sam Claflin], and Peeta [Josh Hutcherson] – Katniss will embark on a mission with the unit from District 13, and risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow. President Snow has become increasingly obsessed with destroying Katniss. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await her will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
