As moms, we are always making sure our kids are happy and healthy. “Eat your vegetables” “Don’t eat too much candy”, but as a mom that travels, it can be even more difficult. There will inevitably be some unhealthy meals, since I don’t always have a kitchen handy, and unfortunately, I just can’t control everything we eat. It is important to me that our family stay healthy while traveling, even almost more than when we are at home. If one kid gets sick while traveling, it can throw all our plans into chaos. I knew I had to ensure that we stay healthy.

A little bit ago I wrote a post with the startling facts about insomnia in our society. We have a sleeping problem in our country and the American sleeping stats are staggering to see. Nearly 4 million Americans suffer from insomnia and the worst part is that most don’t even get any help for it. A mere 12% of Americans suffering from insomnia have been diagnosed by a doctor. Almost 72% Americans are missing out on almost three weeks of sleep every year, that’s a lot of time and a lot of valuable sleep lost.

As a mom of two my biggest strength to get the most out of my days and be the best mom I can be is sleep. Proper sleep can make the difference between a productive day and a terrible out of sync one. Without the proper sleep I have a hard time functioning as a normal human being and it’s nearly impossible to be on top of things as a mom. It’s also vital for my immune system and memory. Less sleep and I find it very hard to recall different things during my day.

We are a family of four that left it all behind to go travel the world. No, literally we left it all. We sold all of our possessions, packed what we could into four suitcases and said goodbye to suburban life. All we own is now pulled behind us as we travel to new and exciting destinations. Showing our kids the world and teaching them about new cultures, food, and ways of life is now our 9-5.

We love watching our kids learn, and learning along side them. Together we have now explored many new countries, visited family on the other side of the world, and made memories that will last a lifetime.
