What is a Beer Rebate?

February 2011

I have received several emails asking about beer rebates

so here is a little beer rebate 101:

Did you know that Beer Companies will pay for some of your groceries?

If you live in one of the following 14 states, be ready to save! In AL, AR, CT, HI, KY, ME, MD, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OK, UT and WV.

You can find the rebate forms at most stores, but I have to say I find them the most at Kroger stores. You can ask customer service or sometimes they are next to products. Usually they require you to buy a certain amount of products and then you mail in your receipt with the rebate form and in 8-10 weeks you get a check back.

The best part is, that in the states above you don't have to make a beer purchase to get the rebate. I thought this was so odd when I first started couponing. I remember sitting there with the form and it said I just had to buy two bags of pretzels and I would receive $4.00 back! I happened to be buying the pretzels any way and I had a coupon for them making them free plus overage after the rebate. So the beer company paid me to buy pretzels! I also find beer rebates for meat and seafood quite often, which is great because you don't find coupons for them so this can really help offset your costs. Beer rebates are a great asset to couponers so be on the lookout for them at your local store!

Here is an example of one I found today:

Receive $8.00 back WYB two Digiorno Pizza's. I found these right near the Pizza's at my local Smith's. And Smith's has them priced at $4.50 each, so after the rebate my final price will be a $1.00 for two!

(sorry not a great picture)
