48 hours in Singapore with kids!

When friends or readers ask about my many trips to Singapore I always tell them to imagine a small destination with a big impact! There’s really no way to properly describe Singapore as it’s a destination like no other. While it can seem to be a much smaller country than others don’t confuse that with a lack of activities or things to do. In fact every time I go back there is always something I missed on my last trip. It takes several trips to even chip away at what Singapore has to offer travelers.

On our last trip we decided to include a day in Sentosa; what I would consider Singapore’s playground. I have been wanting to visit for quite a while and I found myself just as excited as my kids when the day finally came. Sentosa is a small resort island off Singapore’s southern coast and is very easy to get to know matter where you end up staying in Singapore.

Where to stay: Yotel Singapore

While you can choose from many resorts on Sentosa we opted for a more unique  experience right in the heart of the city on Orchard Road. We stayed at the iconic Yotel Singapore for an experience our whole family will never forget. Yotel Singapore isn’t your average hotel as it comes complete with robots, bunk beds for kids, an amazing breakfast and more. The location is also a hug bonus. Orchard Road is the retail hub in Singapore and you can find  some of the biggest and best shopping malls here. The hotel is a short walk from amazing shops, restaurants and more.

As I stated Yotel Singapore comes complete with robots that will personally deliver anything you might need during your stay right to your room! This is a huge hit with the kids as they can interact with either Yoshi or Yolanda and watch their new robot friend navigate the hotel and speak to guests. To be honest though the novelty wasn’t lost on me and I thoroughly enjoyed watching these adorable robots. They will make you want to keep asking for more things to be delivered to your room!

While it may seem like a smaller hotel at first you quickly find out it has everything you could need for your stay. A wonderful lap pool, a workout room, a bar and a restaurant (KOMYUNITI) that serves up a breakfast to fuel all your adventures for the day.

All rooms or cabins come with adjustable smart beds for an amazing sleep, a safe, smart TV, super-fast WIFI, and some pretty cool purple mood lighting. If you are a purple lover like myself you will fit right in at this very cool hotel!

Day One Activities:

I would highly recommend spending your first day on Sentosa checking out all this amazing destination has to offer! Keep in mind that the attractions below are just the ones we visited and I can personally comment on, but Sentosa has way more to offer we just didn’t have enough time to see it all and these were the activities that fit our family best. Be sure to head over here to plan out your specific Sentosa trip.

Cable Car Ride to Sentosa –

I was so surprised how many ways you can get to the island, but none quite compare to the Cable Car Ride. If a birds eye view isn’t your cup of tea you can also take a short tram or even walk to the island, but I don’t recommend walking I the heat. The Cable Car Ride to Sentosa is a spectacular ride and really does give you a bird’s eye view of Sentosa. The Cable Car Ride spans the harbor and is definitely one of the most thrilling ways to get to the island. Head over here to check out this amazing experience.

Skyline Luge Sentosa –

This was such a blast and a favorite with our whole family. You start at the top of a big hill and ride your own luge on wheels down the mountain. You have breaks and steering so you are in complete control of your luge. There are many different tracks to choose from so I highly recommend going down several times to really get the most out of this amazing attraction.

Most kids can navigate their own luge which will make them enjoy the experience even more as they can race with parents. Helmets are provided for a safe and fun family experience. Once you are down at the bottom there is a sky tram to get you easily back up the hill to do it all over again! When buying tickets make sure to add as many rides as possible to maximize your fun and minimize your budget!

Kidzania Singapore –

If you have kids and haven’t heard of Kidzania you need to look it up right now! Kidzania is really too cool for words and can only be truly understood or appreciated once you are experiencing it. The best way I can think to describe it is a fully functioning interactive city just for kids!

(Learning how to make pizza and skills needed to work at Pizza Hut!)

This city is complete with vehicles, buildings and jobs for kids to complete for kidZos “cash” they can then use in the city for food and other cool things. Kidzania provides valuable lessons like independence, money management, job skills and a love for learning! Parents are encouraged to be as hands-off as possible so kids can conquer tasks and jobs on their own. Kidzania Singapore is over 80,000 square feet and even includes a full-wing fuselage of a Boeing 737 where kids can learn how to be a pilot or flight staff!

Day Two Activities:

Shopping on Orchard Road -

After a busy day in Sentosa I highly recommend a chill second day taking in some of the Singapore sites. From your Yotel Singapore Cabin you can easily explore some amazing shopping and enjoy an amazing lunch in one of the amazing malls. The malls are a great place to hang out in the day to escape the heat as well.

(As you can see we went in the daytime and it was so hot!)

Gardens By The Bay –

While this area has a lot to offer in the day I would highly recommend visiting in the evening once the sun has gone down a bit. End your amazing time in Singapore with the iconic Supertree Grove that lights up every night providing an amazing one of a kind experience. Kids and parents will be amazed by these trees that have a magical and majestic feel!

I hope my experiences can help you and your family, plan your stay in Singapore and Sentosa!  Head over here to check out Sentosa and head over here to book your stay at Yotel Singapore.

Activities and hotel were hosted in this post as always all opinions are my own.
